New Year's Eve

I like New Year's. As far as holidays go, it might be my favorite. And this is why -- it's not complicated. Or, more precisely, it's as complicated or not complicated as you want it to be.

Project Hope at Adesso

Before the holiday weekend, a friend and I grabbed our kids and headed over to Adesso (the little boutique with big philosophies) to take part in Project Hope, which invited the community of Santa Barbara to stop in and help make beaded bracelets for all of the students and teachers of Sandy Hook Elementary.

Once Upon-a... Memo

My mate always seemed entirely befuddled when there would be those few days each month that I suddenly morphed into Godzilla. It all made sense once he figured out what was going on (slap on the forehead!) but most of the time he was just blindsided.

It's Feeling Like A Ruby Tuesday To Me

The lovely red. What is it about this color that just looks so -- good? Of all the shades, it's probably my favorite go-to for adding that little accent. Works its magic everywhere.

A Note

I dropped my kids off at school this morning, and like every other parent today, I did it with anguish. My bones continue to ache for all of those who did not get to pick up their children from school on Friday. There are simply no words to define that kind of inconceivable sorrow. I cannot try.

So I will only say... that my heart stays with this, and with all the families who lost their loved ones, big and small.

And to the teachers -- I feel such awe and gratefulness. The way they took care of their students, one losing her life while trying to shield her class, and others ushering their kids to safer places and then filling what they knew might be their last moments... with love. They read them stories and used their voices to comfort them, one saying she "wanted that to the be the last thing they heard, not the gunfire in the hall."

Again, there are no words.

Little Things -- A Cup Of Tea

Especially lovely when enjoyed in something pretty. This tea cup is part of a pair I picked up at this darling vintage shop in Carpinteria.

Whispering Wreaths

These wreaths speak so softly, more like little gestures to the season than loud shouts of holiday.

Dressing Room -- Socks With Sandals

Ahhh... a dreamy combo. I have always adored. Perfect for days when you're looking for that little bit of toasty... or you're just digging the style.

Touches Of Holiday

Fa la la challah la la la la...

This month, whether you're trimming a tree or eating latkes, or eating latkes while trimming a tree, I hope you do it joyfully, peacefully, and inspired.

Found -- A Perfect Pouch

Simple, sweet, and it fits all the essentials, including the mood, from errand to evening. Attachable wristlet is also a stand alone keychain.

By Baggu, and I got mine (above) here.
