Little Things -- Vintage Bottle Beauty

I love stumbling onto old bottles and medicine bottles at antique stores. They're just gorgeous, and the colors can be unreal, like these I saw recently. So pretty to take home for vases... or for nothing at all.

The Beloved Kitchen

It always makes perfect sense to me that people hang out in the kitchen during gatherings. Why wouldn't they? Kitchens-are-dreamy.

Little Things -- A Votive

The power of a votive never ceases to amaze me. Goodness, how can the most humble detail have such a colossal effect. It is one of the simplest ways to alter an environment. The flash of a match... and suddenly things are glowing. It's like putting a filter on a photograph... but on the whole atmosphere.

In groupings on a dinner table, mantel, or nightstand... always lovely. My favorite spot for one -- the tub.

A Trippy Tip -- Tulips

Tulips droop. You bring them home, nice and straight, and before you know it, they're slumping over the sides of the vase. Has its own charm, definitely, I like a little droop sometimes. But, often, I like them pointing straight up.

At Home -- Lighting Up The Fireplace

I love the little details that make a home, and I'd like to share a favorite in mine -- lights in the fireplace.

About A Chandelier

There's just something about a chandelier that can make any room look and feel instantly poetic. I love them, and I love that there's an unending variety of them to choose from.

It's Feeling Like A Ruby Tuesday To Me

The lovely red. What is it about this color that just looks so -- good? Of all the shades, it's probably my favorite go-to for adding that little accent. Works its magic everywhere.

Whispering Wreaths

These wreaths speak so softly, more like little gestures to the season than loud shouts of holiday.

Touches Of Holiday

Fa la la challah la la la la...

This month, whether you're trimming a tree or eating latkes, or eating latkes while trimming a tree, I hope you do it joyfully, peacefully, and inspired.

Once Upon-a... Magazine Tear-Outs

Back in the day, before blogs + Pinterest + Tumblr + Instagram, we relied on torn-out pages from magazines for inspiration. Ransacked pieces of pretty, yanked from their bindings to wreak havoc on desks, nightstands, baskets, everywhere. Some of them have never made it past serving as bookmarks in newer magazines.

In an effort to get organized, I did at one point come up with the brilliant idea to start a binder, and I recently stumbled onto it...

It looks like I made it several pages in before forfeiting the task... but what I did find inside still completely inspired me. And as I was going through the images, I was filled with the same rush I must have had when I hijacked each of them in the first place.

I think these little snapshots we gather, in all their many forms, are such reflections of ourselves that they make us feel understood. Amazing how years and years later, certain ones can still fulfill our visions of dreamy perfection… perfectly.

Meanwhile, despite the arrival of all the new image modes and the ability to store bazillions of photos on a computer -- apparently, I still haven't given up my old reckless behavior...

I do a slightly better job with my recipe carnage...

... but not much.
